Sadiq's journey into the world of filmmaking is a testament to passion, perseverance, and artistic brilliance. Raised in Rawalpindi within a conservative yet nurturing environment, he embarked on his academic journey at St Mary's Academy, Lalazar, before delving into anthropology at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. Fuelled by a desire to explore storytelling through film, Sadiq pursued further studies, earning his MFA in Screenwriting and Directing from the prestigious Columbia University School of the Arts. His educational background laid the foundation for his future success, providing him with the tools to translate his creative vision onto the screen. Sadiq's ascent in the film industry was swift yet impactful. His debut short film, "Nice Talking To You," swiftly garnered attention, earning recognition at prominent festivals such as SXSW and Palm Springs. The accolades continued to pour in as he clinched the BAFTA Shortlist for Best Student Film and Vimeo's Best Director award at the Columbia University Film Festival. However, it was with his poignant exploration of the transgender community in "Darling" that Sadiq truly made waves. The film not only secured the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film at the Venice International Film Festival but also made history as the first Pakistani film to win at Venice. Its journey continued with accolades at SXSW and selection at the Toronto International Film Festival, ultimately being acquired by Focus Features.
